Representation of social groups

I think my product represents people particularly teen girls who have an alternative taste in music and do not want to conform to the stereotypical teen music, style and fashion.

I think it represents this audience as the magazine does conform to some of the conventions of media, therefore it is not completely different and isolated. I think this represent the target audience well as they have different tastes in music compared to the normally stereotypical 'pop' music, however they are not totally against the conventions of teenage life.

My front Cover

I think this front cover challenges the conventions of a stereotypical magazine as There is not much writing and therefore people focus on the picture, also the picture is in black and white and the model is standing outside rather than in a studio. I think my masthead also fits with my magazine idea well as it is very decorative and intricate, yet still you can easily recognise it. I like this picture as her skin is such a contrast to the background, I think this portrays really well how this magazine is different to others- a contrast.

My Contents

This is my double page spread, I think that this follows some conventions of stereotypical magazines as the main feature on the page is the picture, there is not much writning and few pages written. I think this is a good thing as readers will flick through the magazine rather than going straight to the page that appeals most to them. The main background picture i took in colour and then changed it so many times, I had it black and white until very recently when I decided that the page looked to bland and that as my front cover was in black and white i should change it. The C on contents is written in the font i have used for my masthead creating an link to the magazine.
